We need you! To join us for an exciting adventure through Upcountry South Carolina’s past.

Morning: From Davy Crockett to Johnny Reb: Why did the Indians and white settlers fight each other? Why did the Upcountry resist joining in the American Revolution? How did Greenville get its start? And why did South Carolina secede from the Union? Did you know that girls fought in the Civil War, too? These and other topics will be explored through hands-on arts and crafts, military drill practice, a look at the home front, and living historians.

Lunch Break

Afternoon: From the Mill Village to the Victory Garden: The Civil War is over, and South Carolina is devastated. But the textile industry will come, as will World Wars One and Two. What role did the Upcountry play in these events? Find out as we look at textile mill toys and games, plant a Victory garden, explore military camp life, and learn what life was like during the Great Depression.
