Who cares?  What does that have to do with me?  How should I know? Why do I need to know that?  Any of those questions sound familiar?  Let us help answer them!  Our programs offer students a hands-on activity in our Museum Classroom as well as in-depth time in related exhibit areas.

Your students will step into the gallery to be immersed in a particular period of history.  They may hear one of our life figures share his or her own story of life in the Upcountry, work with interactive exhibits to discover important details about our shared past, and participate in lively discussions with our trained docents.  In the classroom, students put their heads and hands to work to discover the past through a variety of activities and to share their discoveries with one another.

UHM provides a variety of programs designed to meet state social studies standards for specific grade levels.  Our goal in providing school field trips is to help teachers reinforce the standards taught in the classroom and hopefully go beyond the standards to offer students an enrichment experience that connects real objects and real life to textbook learning.

Museum Tour Only

The education department also provides full Museum tours that do not include a classroom program.  Please allow approximately 1 hour and 30minutes for a full tour.  Scavenger hunts are available at the end of the tour to help reinforce what students learned on their “walk through time” at Upcountry History Museum.  [30 student maximum]
