Take a leap back in time!  We welcome everyone interested in exploring the stories of those that came before us.  Scouts, camp groups, and after-school program participants can join our exploration of the past.

_DSC7021Self-guide $6 per child. Ages 5-17.  One chaperone is required for every ten youth.  One chaperone for every ten youth is free; additional fees: $8 adult/$7 senior/$6 youth.

Explore on your own time and follow your own interests.  Introduce your children to the Upcountry’s history beginning with the earliest settlers through today.  Compare your successes and tragedies with those that struggled, invested, and built the communities in the uplands of South Carolina.  Ask us about our scavenger hunts!

Thank you to everyone who came to learn with us during the summer of 2017! We will be updating our summer offerings in the spring of 2018 to reflect the current programs available. In the meantime, here are past lessons to give you an idea of what we do during summer educational experiences at the Museum. Curious George: Let’s Get Curious
Youth Group Programs
$7 per child.  One chaperone is required for every ten youth. One chaperone for every ten youth is free; additional fees: $8 adult/$7 senior/$6 youth

Explore one of the world of Curious George in our popular summer 2017 exhibition, Curious George: Let’s Get Curious. Each program includes hands-on activities in the classroom with one of our education docents, followed by a guided challenge in the exhibit, and free exploration time where children can play as the world of George and the man in the Yellow Hat comes to life through our immersive environment!

Programs are approximately an hour and a half in length, additional time may be added to continue to play in exhibit or explore the rest of the Museum. Recommended for ages 3-10.

Youth Group Programs

In 2017 we will commemorate 100 years since the US entry into World War I. Explore the posters that called to Americans asking for their service and sacrifice in this “war to end all wars.” Guests will explore original posters from WWI, while learning the history of America’s home-front involvement in the war effort – everything from training soldiers, to the birth of Duke’s Sandwiches, to he start the Greenville chapter of the American Red Cross. In the classroom, students will explore the meaning of the poppy and learn how they can be part of the remembrance movement.

45-minute tour in the exhibit & 45-minute hands-on activity in the classroom, additional time may be added to explore the Museum. Recommended for ages 7-18.

On-the-Road Programs

Reserve a date and time for a museum educator to visit your camp or day care! Two week notification is required. One-hour programs are available for children ages 3-18. $50 per program of up to 30 children, plus mileage ($0.48 per mile outside of Greenville County).

Program includes:

20-minute history lesson
20-minute story
20-minute activity
