Summer Programs

Visit UHM this summer for one of our special summer 2019 offerings:

 

Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails
$8 per child

One chaperone is required for every ten youth. One chaperone for every ten youth is free;
Additional fees: $9 adult/$8 senior/$7 youth

Bring your preschool or elementary age campers to the Upcountry History Museum to explore the world of Thomas the Train! Learn through hands-on activities and creative play-scapes. Programs include a guided lesson and activity, as well as time to play in the interactive exhibition gallery.

Programs are approximately an hour and a half in length, additional time may be added to continue to play in exhibit or explore the rest of the Museum. Recommended for ages 3-10.

 

 

 

 

Down the Rabbit Hole: Imagining Alice’s Wonderland
$8 per child.

One chaperone is required for every ten youth. One chaperone for every ten youth is free;
Additional fees: $9 adult/$8 senior/$7 youth

Designed for elementary, middle, and even high school-age campers, this program will invite visitors down the rabbit hole to discover an immersive enchanted world that draws together a remarkable collection of Alice in Wonderland materials. Programs include a guided tour of the exhibition and a creative arts project that allows students to interpret Lewis Carroll’s wonderland using their own imagination.

45-minute tour in the exhibit & 45-minute hands-on activity in the classroom, additional time may be added to explore the Museum. Recommended for ages 8-18.

 

 

 

Love a Vet: Honoring our Military Veterans
$8 per child.

One chaperone is required for every ten youth. One chaperone for every ten youth is free;
Additional fees: $9 adult/$8 senior/$7 youth

Designed for middle and high school-age campers, this program will encourage visitors to appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans and their families while educating them on the challenging issues that veterans face upon their re-entry into civilian life.

45-minute tour in the exhibit & 45-minute hands-on activity in the classroom, additional time may be added to explore the Museum. Recommended for ages 11-18.

 

 

 

 

Self-guide
$7 per child. Ages 5-17.

One chaperone is required for every ten youth.  One chaperone for every ten youth is free;
Additional fees: $9 adult/$8 senior/$7 youth.

Explore on your own time and follow your own interests.  Introduce your children to the Upcountry’s history beginning with the earliest settlers through today.  Compare your successes and tragedies with those that struggled, invested, and built the communities in the uplands of South Carolina.  Ask us about our scavenger hunts and group rate discount!

On-the-Road Programs

Reserve a date and time for a museum educator to visit your camp or day care! Two week notification is required. One-hour programs are available for children ages 3-18. $100 for first program, up to 30 children; $75 for each additional class. All locations beyond a 20 mile radius from the Museum will incur a $25 travel fee.
