Colonial Upcountry Family Night, July 30, 6:30-9:30 PM:
Celebrate “Independence Month” at the Upcountry History Museum by learning about life in the Colonial Upcountry. Through special guests and activities, families will get a chance to experience what life was like when the Upcountry was still part of the the rugged, untamed Backcountry of the Carolinas. Free with Museum admission.
Swimsuits: A Revealing History Lunch and Learn August 11, noon-1 PM:
Costume historian Kathleen Gossman takes a look at the history of summer’s iconic article of clothing, from its early days through the invention of the two-piece. Bring your lunch or reserve a Chick-fil-a bag lunch for $5. Seats are free to museum members and $5 for guests. Reservations suggested.
Growing up Upcountry Family Night, August 20, 6:30-9:30 PM:
Childhood in the Upcountry has not always been like it is now! Families can walk through the museum to experience what life was like growing up at different points in Upcountry history. Free with Museum admission.
Historian’s Tour of Weaving Our Survival: World War II and the Upcountry Exhibit, August 21, 10:30-11:30 AM:
Time is running out to see the museum’s self-curated World War II exhibit, featuring access to previously unreleased oral history interviews and Upcountry military and homefront artifacts! The tour will be lead by a museum historian that assisted in putting the exhibit together. Tour is $5 plus museum admission for non-members. Reservations required and limited space is available.
