The Literary Upcountry

Join the Upcountry History Museum and the Hughes Main Library as we take a historical look at some of the literary works produced here in the Upcountry.  How has this region impacted authors both past and present?  Hear from local authors and professors as they explore these works.  Dessert reception provided.

January 31, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm:  Ben Robertson’s Red Hills and Cotton
UHM historian and Furman University assistant professor of history Dr. Courtney Tollison will explore the life of noted author, Ben Robertson and his iconic work, Red Hills and Cotton.

February 14, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Dr. Deno Trakas’s Because Memory Isn’t Eternal: A Story of Greeks in the Upstate
Wofford College’s English Department chair, Dr. Deno Trakas, will explore the impact of his Greek heritage upon his recently published book.
