The Upcountry History Museum is pleased to announce a new
scholarship program, Step Into History. This program was established
through the generous support of the Wachovia Foundation and is
specifically intended to provide the opportunity for students in Title
I schools in Greenville and several additional neighboring counties to
participate in educational programming at the Museum. It is our
mission to educate our community, and we want to be sure that that
mission also extends to as many students as possible.
The Upcountry History Museum offers standards-based educational
programs for a variety of grade levels. This program will target those
students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, though other grade level
classes may participate. A brief description of these programs is
available on our website. Each program provides time for the students
in the galleries and in the classroom for a hands-on lesson and
activity.
The Step Into History program will offer scholarships to over 1,200
students at Title I schools in our neighboring counties, including:
Greenville, Anderson, Laurens, Pickens, Spartanburg and Oconee
Counties. To ensure that scholarships are awarded to students from a
variety of schools and grade levels, there will be an application
process. To request an application, please contact our Museum
Educator, Heather Yenco, at heather@upcountryhistory.org. Applications being accepted NOW for field trips in 2010. Teachers will be notified by email.
