Andrew Waters is a writer, editor and conservationist residing in Spartanburg. He is the editor of Battle of Cowpens: Primary & Contemporary Accounts and three slave narrative collections. His most recent book, The Quaker and the Gamecock, has been featured on Walter Edgar’s Journal and the Journal of American Revolution, the premier online journal of the Revolutionary War. Additionally, Waters is a PhD candidate with Clemson’s Park, Recreation and Tourism Management Department.
The Quaker and the Gamecock tells the story of two wildly divergent leaders, Continental Army General Nathanael Greene and Patriot militia leader Thomas Sumter. Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution’s last gasp, the effort to extricate a British occupation force from South Carolina frontier, the book explores the complex political, personal, and socioeconomic challenges the Southern theater. Join author Andrew Waters as he explores America’s first civil war through the conflicted relationship of two Revolutionary War generals 240 years ago.
