Saturday, February 29 – 2:00 p.m.
Learn about Greenville’s civil rights issues of the 1960s and the events leading up to that monumental movement. Hear directly from local teen activists through recorded oral histories, as they discuss the hardships they overcame in their stand against inequality. We will also have a short tour through the changing exhibit, Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad before heading into the classroom for our art project.
This topic is especially beneficial for students in the 5th and 8th grade, as several SC Social Studies standards will be covered.
