Quilts of Valor
A Quilt of Valor® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” Since its founding in 2003, the Quilts of Valor organization has awarded nearly 400,000 quilts to U.S. veterans in all 50 states. South Carolina leads the nation in Quilts of Valor awarded each year. From July 19 to July 21, a select number of unawarded quilts will be displayed at the Upcountry History Museum.
UHM is honored to host ceremonies on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, where local veterans will be awarded their own Quilts of Valor.
